“The Four Types of People Who are Lost”

Introduction:
Jesus always receives the lost!
I. Four ways of getting lost.
-Lost through heedlessness-the sheep (v.4).
- Lost through idleness-the coin (v.8).
- Lost through willfulness-the prodigal son (vv.12-13).
- Lost through pride (haughtiness)-the elder brother (vv.25-26).
II. Four consequences of being lost.
- The consequence of helpless distress-the sheep (v.4).
- The consequence of uselessness-the coin (v.8).
- The consequence of degradation-the prodigal son (v.16).
- The consequence of joylessness-the elder brother (vv.28-300.
III. A fourfold quest for the lost.
- The quest of Christ.
- The quest of the Holy Spirit.
- The quest of the heavenly Father.
- The quest of the church. (Luke 14:23; John 20:21)
