“Is Church Membership Biblical?”

Text: Hebrews 13:17

Scripture Reading: Revelation 12:7-9

Introduction: For many people in the time we live, church membership has come down to an issue of personal preference.

    I.     A review of Hebrews13:17.

                - There is a command.

                - There is a reason.

                - There is a group (body) of believers (ekklesia).

II.     What’s right with the church?

                - The church is called “saints” (John 17:17-19).

                - The church is called “disciples” (Matthew 28:19).

                - The church is called believers and faithful (John 1:12).

                - The church is called slaves and servants (2 Corinthians 4:5).

                - The church is called the people of God (2 Corinthians 6:16).

                - The church is called the kingdom and temple

                (Colossians 4:5; Revelations 2-3).

                - The church is called the household and family

                (Matthew 10:6).

III.     The “church” has an enemy!

                - In, But Not of, the World.

                - Acting like Christians.

Today is the day, you can become a member of God’s forever family, and a member of His church!
