“Does Christmas Cost Too Much?”

Text: Matthew 2:13

Scripture Reading: Matthew 2:13-23

Introduction: Over the years, one of the complaints I hear is that Christmas cost to much! Or, how much did you spend on Christmas this year? Or simply, Christmas cost too much!

I. Christmas cost too much if it does not mean hope.

- The prophesies of the Old Testament pointed to the coming of the Messiah.

-Knowing the Christ of Christmas.

II. Christmas cost too much if we do not receive God’s gift, if we do not experience God’s love.

- John 3:16

- 1 John 4:10

III. Christmas cost too much if we do not experience the forgiveness of sins.

- Matthew 1:21

- Luke 2:11

- Ephesians 1:7

IV. Christmas cost too much if we do not radiate joy.

- Luke 2:10

- Matthew 2:10

V. Christmas cost too much if we do not manifest peace and goodwill among people.

VI. Christmas cost too much if we do not proclaim the Good News!

- Luke 2:11

VII. Christmas cost too much if we do not exercise faith.

- “Faith” is a word for Christmas. God’s faith in man is revealed by the gift of his son Jesus.

- God’s wonderful provision demands a response.

Christmas does not  cost too much… if we respond to the Lord!
