“A Disciple and Jesus Christ our Example”

Text: 2 Corinthians 8:9
Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 8: 1-15
Introduction: Jesus Christ is our example. Peter tells us in 1 Peter 2:21, “Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example that you should follow in his steps.
I. Paul reminded the Corinthians of the stewardship of Christ
(2 Corinthians 8:9-10).
- He told them of the riches of Christ before he came to earth
(John 18:37; John 14:28).
- He told them that Jesus Christ become poor by coming to earth
(Luke 9:58).
- He told them why he made the sacrifice (v.9).
- 2 Corinthians 5:21
II. Paul gave the Corinthians an analysis of their stewardship.
- He let them know their stewardship was far below par.
- Faithful people and Unfaithful people.
- I will praise the Lord (v.19).
III. Paul used the churches of Macedonia as an example of some churches that followed the pattern of Jesus Christ in stewardship.
- These churches gave under very unfavorable circumstances.
- They gave voluntarily.
- They first gave themselves.
Jesus gave His best, His all. As His disciple, He expects you to do your best. He expects our church to do its best!
