“A Disciple and a Psalm of Thanksgiving”
Text: Psalm 116:1-2
Scripture Reading: Psalm
Introduction: One of the greatest Christian virtues is “thanksgiving,” our grateful expression of thanks to God as we acknowledge him as the source for all blessings-blessings given by grace (James 1:17).
I. The psalmist testified to what the Lord has done for him. (Psalm 116:1-8)
- God listen to us (v.2).
- God hears our voice. (He gives us comfort),
- He offers grace (v.5).
- He delivered him (vv.6-8)
II. The psalmist’s response to God’s goodness (Psalm 116:12-19).
- “I will take the cup of salvation” (v.13 KJV).
- I will call on the name of the Lord.
- I will pay my vows (vv.14, 18)
- I will praise the Lord (v.19)
This Thanksgiving season let us remember to “praise the Lord for HIS goodness and for wonderful works to the children of men” (Psalm 107:15).
